In mid-2010 I decided to take the leap and turn my hobby and passion into my job and means of support. After years of tinkering around with the internet, video software, apps, and different web design programs, I identified that if I just started charging people for what I was doing for free. I could throw off the shackles of a scheduled career, create Cabo Web Design, and the only “Man” I would have to answer to is myself (OK, and the wife who also happens to be one of my bigger clients, the non-paying kind).

Sometimes I pause when describing what it is I do when people ask: “I’m a web designer, video editor, photoshopping graphic designer with an expertise in Facebook marketing and digital news lettering”. When people get confused by that, I just say “I’m good at the internet” or at least that is what I’ve been told. Building websites is a pretty good business to be in. I’m basing that on the premise that this internet fad is going to be with us for a while. The challenge is staying on top and current which is why I spend so much of my time “playing” on the internet. One of my favorite things to do is see something new and exciting in terms of design and then try to implement it. I’m a firm believer that as long as you have the basics in place (things like good search engine optimization, pages that can be viewed in all browsers, pages that load quickly, easy navigation).Then you can be free to do whatever you like on top of that. A good website needs to be visually attractive, professional looking, and , most importantly, easy to navigate and functional… Then you can throw in some wow factor.

Alex designed, developed and built the website for our real estate project in Cerritos BCS took over our social media campaigns.

Newsletters
Communicating with your customers and prospects is key to any online marketing strategy but putting together a decent campaign can be both costly and time consuming. We are very much a one stop shop in that regard. There are several steps to both getting started and running a good email newsletter campaign:

With just a few exceptions, everything you see within this site, our websites and videos, was produced in-house. Some of the best feedback I have received from clients explain that in the past they needed to employ a graphic designer, web guy (or gal), newsletter mailing service, videographer, and social media person just to get things done. Aside from the additional cost of having to employ, or contract out, to all of these sources, is the extra time and stress involved in trying to coordinate all of these different angles – “herding cats” as they say. Melomec Studios, Cabo web Design is very much a one-stop-shop for all of these services. We also dabble a little bit in photography and cinemagraphs as well as some general photoshop trickery. Let’s end this thing where it first began. My initial foray into this whole thing evolved from a video camera and my desire to edit and share videos of family and friends with… other family and friends. I still do a lot of “fun” videos with Cabo Web Design and you can see some of them here but I have also branched out to do corporate and promotional videos. What I have found in the promotional video world is a large gap. Companies with larger budgets will spend tens of thousands of dollars to put something together employing fancy lighting, helicopters, and all the bells and whistles. Smaller companies, without big budgets, will try to piece something together using an iPhone and an old Mac and they can come out looking amateurish. The videos below were all filmed with basic equipment and edited at Melomec Studios and they were all budgeted from start to finish for under $1,500
